With the arrival of December comes the arrival of car parking shortages and malls packed with people shoulder to shoulder. To make it easier we have compiled a list of our top shopping tips!

  1. Make lists
Start brainstorming ideas of what you think people will want. You can also keep track of everyone so no one is forgotten!
  2. Start early
Get out there today! The earlier you are, the better. Beat the last minute shoppers and grab those popular toys before they go out of stock.
  3. Research
Before you leave the house, do some research online. This will speed up the process significantly. You’ll know what shops to hit and maybe you’ll be able to order it to your doorstep from the comfort of your couch.

4. Deal hunt
With Christmas, comes tonnes of sales and discounts. If it’s a common item, have a Google and who knows, maybe somewhere else has that product on sale! You also shouldn’t be afraid of discount malls, there are plenty of hidden gems there waiting to be bought.

5. A gift-giving plan where each kid gets four presents:
4 presents?!” I hear you ask. You can try keep the budget small per item or only buy two of the four and so on. Either way, it’s a good starting point if you’re lost for ideas on what to get.

  • A Want
Have they been begging for a certain toy or video game? Take time to listen to what they really want and will make them happy, instead of buying the latest popular gimmick and hoping they like it. This can be the main present out of the four, as it’ll probably be the one they are most excited about.
  • A Need
Have they recently broken their headphones? Need a bigger backpack as they get older? This is a chance to fulfil their need.
  • A Wear
Kids go through clothes fast. They’re growing and super active. It may not be the most exciting to them but try make it relevant. A cool superhero or barbie t-shirt? Sweet Nike shoes you found at the discount mall? There’s always something out there they’ll connect with.
  • A Read
Reading is important so a book is always a good option. Again, find something they can connect with and they’ll enjoy it. A National Geographic book about animals? Guinness World Record book? A superhero graphic novel? Whatever it is, it’s probably better than a screen.

At the end of the day, it’s important not to stress. The holidays are a time for love and happiness so don’t let the shopping stress get you down. Happy Holidays!
